What Is "Final Compensation"?
For purposes of computing retirement allowances, "Final Compensation" is your average monthly "compensation earnable" recognized by the Board of Retirement, as determined by your highest 12 consecutive months of employment. "Compensation Earnable" includes your base salary and most paid differentials. It does not include overtime, reimbursed expenses such as textbooks, tuition or mileage. Click Here for an example.
